HEAT Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration presented by Pepsi

MIAMI October 28thThe Miami HEAT hosted its sixth annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration presented by Pepsi and T-Mobile with a day of basketball-themed activities at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo Center, Edwards Hall, on Saturday, October 22nd. For this event, The HEAT partnered with the Tamiami Youth Basketball League, with whom it has a long-standing relationship.

Among the attendees were HEAT Legends Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway along with HEAT Head Coach Erik Spoelstra, Assistant Coaches Bob McAdoo, David Fizdale, and Chad Kammerer, Player Development Coach/Advance Scout Octavio De La Grana and Assistant Video Coordinator Rich Fernando. This group led basketball drills and provided instruction on the many clinic stations available.

Michael Baiamonte, HEAT Public Announcer, Jason Jackson, HEAT Courtside Reporter, and Dale, in-arena host, emceed the event along with “La Voz” Jose Pañeda, the team’s Spanish broadcaster. Additionally, the Xtreme Team, and mascot Burnie provided entertainment for all the fans in attendance.

The Tamiami Youth Basketball League is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation that is committed to serving the South Florida community through the sport of basketball. The league is home to over 900 girls and boys ranging from ages 5 through 17 making it the biggest independent basketball league in Florida. In addition, the league uses the sport of basketball as a conduit to promote the importance of academics, teamwork and good sportsmanship.
